How many Jehovah’s Witnesses are former NBA players?

In a recent performance, comedian Brittany Schmitt made headlines by talking about her ex, a former NBA star who converted to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Who was she referring to?

Brittany Schmitt, a comedian, debuted her first full-length comedy spectacular on YouTube in July. Recently, though, her work has drawn more notice due to a joke about a former NBA star she dated. After their breakup, the former NBA star contacted Schmitt and informed her that he had converted to the Jehovah’s Witness faith and urged her to repent. Schmitt related this incident.

The complete footage can be viewed here. The skit also has a number of really NSWF tales about their relationship.

The skit ends with a reference of her spouse urging her to look up how many former NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses, however she never identifies the player. Schmitt claims that there are just two, which somewhat defies her attempt to preserve his obscurity by omitting his name from the collection.

Which NBA players, both present and former, are Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Google claims that there are three NBA players who are Jehovah’s Witnesses, including Dewayne Dedmon of the Miami Heat and Danny Granger and Darren Collison of the old Indiana Pacers. The only other distinguishing feature in her outfit (light skin tone) gives the impression that Schmitt is referring to Granger. She also makes reference to a cousin called Keith, but a quick Google search didn’t reveal a Keith-named relative for either Granger or Collison.

And who knows whether any of this is truly genuine or if it’s simply a pretty absurd stand-up joke?
